6 JETER, K.W. (FREAS, Kelly, Frank). SEEKLIGHT.
Toronto: Laser Books, 1975. First edition. Paperback. Fine.
K.W., Jeter is a friend of both Tim Powers and James P. Blaylock, but a vastly different writer; Jeter writes with a much cooler blade, a razor with a bit of bitterness to its edge. In his introduction Barry Malzberg called this - ". . . one of the 3 or 4 best SF novels I have ever read." The author's first book, SIGNED by him and cover artist Kelly Freas. It was Jeter who introduced his buddy Tim Powers to Laser books. A fine unread copy with no reading crease.

Published just over forty years ago, "TSD" displays all the panache and promise of a young writer who would become, the multi-award winning author, Tim Powers. This copy is SIGNED both by the author and artist. Fine unread copy with a trace of paper-age.

EPITAPH IN RUST., POWERS, Tim (FREAS, Kelly).
8 POWERS, Tim (FREAS, Kelly). EPITAPH IN RUST.
Toronto: Laser Books, 1976. First edition. Paperback. Fine.
A Laser book #47 in the 58 book series, this was the author's 2nd book. Roger Elwood was the series editor of this very interesting project; have each book's cover painting done by the same artist to give it a unity, and publish 3 titles every month. The enlistment of Frank Kelly Freas as cover artist gave the series a sense of quality and importance. We all knew even at that early stage that it was just a matter of time before Powers would become a major player in the field. Powers declared this edition his "mangled text," edition and went on later to have the book published with its original text. SIGNED by both the author and the late artist Frank Kelly Freas.

FORSAKE THE SKY., POWERS, Tim (FREAS, Kelly).
9 POWERS, Tim (FREAS, Kelly). FORSAKE THE SKY.
New York: Tor, 1986. First edition. Paperback.
A slight revamping - call it a re-examination - of the author's first book. Powers adds to the book an enlightening "afterword"-"For this printing, I've had to . . . touch it up-tighten it here, shore it up there, trim some stuff . . . and it's been a surprisingly nostalgic experience to get back into the workings of the book after all these years . . . " - SIGNED by the author. The Boris Vallejo cover has given the character a Luke Skywalker look. As new unread copy.

The author's post-apocalyptic vision of Los Angeles as it existed in the late 1960's, early 70's only a hundred fold worse after nuclear devastation, culminating in the Deviant's Palace Night Club. LA was a very creepy & seamy place back then! SIGNED by the author. Philip K. Dick Memorial Award Winner. Fine unread copy; no reading crease.

THE ANUBIS GATES., POWERS, Tim.

New York: Ace, 1983. 0-441-02380-0 / 9780441023806 First edition. Paperback. Fine. Signed
The author's "breakout" novel that truly put him in the front rank of the field. Voted one of Horror's 100 Best Books as compiled by Stephen Jones and Kim Newman from the suggestions/contributions of more than 100 of the best practioners in the field - "The Anubis Gates is the ideal post-modernist genre , at once science fiction, horror, literary fantasy, historical recreation, swashbuckling thriller and comic apocalypse" - Horror 100 Best Books. Is it any wonder it was the hands-down winner of the Philip K. Dick Award. Perhaps a trace of rack rub at base, but virtually new shiny unread copy. SIGNED by the author.

THE DRAWING OF THE DARK., POWERS, Tim.
12 POWERS, Tim. THE DRAWING OF THE DARK.
New York: Del Rey/Ballantine, 1979, 0-345-27604-3 / 9780345276049 First edition. Paperback. Fine.
Brian Duffy - soldier of fortune - meets Merlin, the Lady of the Lake and . . . Powers', King Arthur book. Most enjoyable! One I need to re-read; and an early Powers approaching the height of same! A little color rubbed off the heel of the book else an as new copy. To the author's credit, he really gutted it out with this one, virtually re-writing the book from start to finish under the auspices of editor Lester Del Rey with no promise of acceptance. Del Rey did of course buy the book to which Power's noted - "Lester Del Rey was one of the great editors." SIGNED by the author. Berlyne: A3a
