RANDY BROECKER:A BEAUTIFUL TERROR!

If you're an H.P. Lovecraft enthusiast and you don't know the work of Randy Broecker,
then you haven't been paying attention! Artist, Broecker has arguably (although
you'll get no argument from me!) realized Lovecraft's  almost incoherent descriptions
of his other-wordly beings into visual images better than any artist today. His beautiful
terrors remind this viewer most, of that great past master—Virgil Finlay—an artist he
reveres.  Broecker's intricate and delicate line work combined with his meticulous
attention to detail, raises his monstrous and terrible depictions to a level of artistry, rather
than the common and easily achievable "gross out" so popular in the media.
And there are those times when the playful, comic and childlike side of his personality comes through,
even in his CTHULHU MYTHOS work—and these qualities are truly unique unto him!

In addition to the works of H.P. Lovecraft and his Acolytes, Randy has also illustrated the works of Joseph Payne Brennan, Ramsey Campbell, Jack Vance, Tanith Lee, Stephen Jones editions, and anthologies too numerous to mention.  He is also a recognized authority on Phantastique illustration with his noted volume:FANTASY OF THE 20TH CENTURY, published by COLLECTORS PRESS, in 2001.

I am privileged to present some of his original art, so scroll down for larger scans.
