Originally sent to Donald A. Wollheim for publication in his amateur-zine— THE PHANTAGRAPH, THE HYBORIAN AGE did partially appear incomplete in some three issues before the 'zine ceased publication. A few years later, Donald A. Wollheim, Forrest Ackerman and others, did finally publish the wonderful Robert E. Howard essay, as a deparate booklet, two years after Howard's death. Only 100 copies were printed and sold at .35, the copy. Second only in scarcity to the British publication of Howard's A GENT FROM BEAR CREEK, 'THA" is a cornerstone for REH collectors and rarely found in their collections. In additional to the defining essay of CONAN and his world, a letter from H. P. Lovecraft to Wollheim is reprinted, noting REH's instructions; also the PROBABLE OUTLINE OF CONAN's CAREER as penned by P. Schuyler Miller and John D. Clark. A very good copy of this fragile item, with a small chip from the upper r.h., corner, and a faint stain in the r.h., lower orner of the first three pages; slight crease. A very nice copy, presented in a cloth clam-shell, chemise, and beautiful 1/4 leather traycase designed and built by Gray Parrot.
