Given the incredible popularity and prices commanded for J.R.R. Tolkien first and signed editions, it's virtually impossible to procure a meaningful collectible unless you happen to be a CEO of a major corporation! Until now. I offer a special bound, limited presentation copy from the British publisher - Harper-Collins - of the first printing of the 50th Anniversary edition of LORD OF THE RINGS, issued in a single volume. This edition was limited to ONLY 30 COPIES, none of which were ever offered for sale but given by the publisher to those few who had assisted in the production of the book. This is a particularly notable copy in that it was presented to one of the author's bibliographers and editor of the text involved in incorporating all of Tolkien's corrections and additions bringing the most up to date and accurate text available for this, the very important 50th Anniversary edition. This was Douglas Anderson's copy co/bibliographer of J.R.R. TOLKIEN: A DESCRIPTIVE BIBLIOGRAPHY as published by Oak Knoll Press, who wrote the introductory NOTE ON THE TEXT for this special all-in-one 50th Anniversary edition and SIGNED the book at the end of his contribution. Accompanying the book is the letter of thank you and noting the limitation, from the Senior Editor, Tolkien at HarperCollins, Chris Smith. Bound in red quarter leather with a bright red cloth, slipcase.
