Rhinehart Kleiner was one of Lovecraft's earliest friends in amateur journalism - his name forms the first portion of the group of amateurs known as "THE KLEICOMOLO" (Kleiner, Maurice Moe, Edward Cole, & HPL) and published issues of his 'zine - THE PIPER on and off till his death in 1949. In this issue, Kleiner writes a poem in the eighteenth century style of HPL on the theme - London Bridge is Falling Down; he also devotes a very long column to HPL's CONSERVATIVE - "The CONSERVATIVE. . . more than fulfills the expectations aroused by the previouw issue and it is safe to say that few papers . . . have attained to an equally high standard of excellence." Then goes on at length analyzing Lovecraft's remarks about poetry. NOT noted in JOSHI but commentary ABOUT Lovecraft by his contemporaries just gives you the sense of what a giant in the field he was, even early in his writing career.
