LOVECRAFT THE OBESE!Now this is a most odd entry into the opus on one Howard Phillips Lovecraft; his weight. As quoted under RANDOM THOUGHTS - "LOST - - GONE, gladly dispensed with, about fifty or more pounds Avoirdupois which, at one time encircled the girth of one Howard P. Lovecraft . . . no reward is offered for its return " . . . now that rings to me of clever HPL humor: there is additional verbage here which I personally assume to be Lovecraft himself. I mean, I seriously doubt that HPL would've devulged this information to anyone, especially a woman he did not know that terribly well! It's always struck me as odd - Lovecraft was not a sexually driven personality, yet he always took pride in his appearance; he always dressed in shirt and tie, prided himself on being trim and according to Talman, spent considerable time upon his "toiliet preparations" - into that read shaving & grooming, in the morning! So who was he primming himself for?
