HPL's only book published during his lifetime. Copies were first issued without a dust-wrapper and the ensuing outcry from purchasers prompted the printer—William Crawford—to print up a dust-wrapper. The dust-wrapper exists in three states—I believe—with the Frank Utpatel illustrated wrapper being the most finished and desireable. This is a fine fresh example of the book—well as fine as you could possibly get of this inexpertly bound book—Crawford stitched the book on his mother's dining-room table—with TWO states of the dust-wrapper, including the final finished one with the UTPATEL illustration. Interior illustrations by Frank Utpatel who later did many dust-wrapper illustrations for Arkham House. ALSO includes the original "errata sheet." Housed within a beautiful 1/4-leather, tray-case designed, built by the book binder, Gray Parrot.
