Perhaps the author's rarest book, certainly scarce anyway, as half the 500-copy audition was "washed overboard, coming from England during a storm in the Atlantic"—the words from the author. Fifty-five pages of poetry by this very able poet, rarely are his poems over a page in length, they hit you like a captive photo-image. This copy inscribed, signed to his dear friend R. Dixon Smith—biographer of Carl Jacobi. "To R. Dixon Smith, to keep him from rummaging the bottom of the North Atlantic," Joseph Payne Brennan." If not rare, a very scarce book. Fine in d.j.
