James F. Morton, Jr., snipes back at Lovecraft in a one-page commentary on HPL's acumen to which Morton confesses—"Peccav!" Guilty, or I have sinned. "All I can do is congratulate Mr. Lovecraft on his marvellous acumen which has enabled him to discover the astonishing fact, that Persia is not in Europe, and the noble zeal, which has impelled him to lose no time in imparting the information to the amateur world, otherwise certain to have been fatally mislead by my criminal carelessness." Of course in the long ensuing years, HPL and Morton became very very dear friends. Lovecraft just had to grow up. A very good copy with string-tie, still present.
