Up until SELECTED POEMS's publication in 1971, EBONY & CRYSTAL was the author's greatest poetry collection, until the Arkham House issuance of SELECTED POEMS, as it contained the first publication of his epic, THE HASHISH-EATER. The book was inexpertly bound, lacking the endpapers, and the author was so upset that he didn't bother having his artwork design reproduced for a dust-jacket. The dust-jacket was printed up in an edition of 200 copies by Terence McVicker, to celebrate the hundreth anniversary of the poet's birth, in 1993. Issued in an edition of 500 [actually 525} signed, numbered copies. The best copy I've ever found of this book. A few corrections in the author's hand.
