After purchasing the Samuel Loveman, Clark Ashton Smith collection in 1970-71, Gerry de la Ree published two books: Grotesques and Fantastiques being the first, Klarkash-ton & Monstro Ligriv, the second. Printed in an edition of 650 copies, 600 unfortunately, were published with stiff-paper covers, only 50 in hardcover. in my opinion the 600 copy edition of Grotesques & Fantastiques deserved hardcover, publication, it is that important an addition to the CAS canon. The book contains sixteen previously unpublished poems, twenty-four "grotesques"—pieces of original CAS art, plus both covers, and a six-page introduction, reprinting portions of letters from CAS to Loveman. This little volume is a treasure trove to any Clark Ashton Smith enthusiast. A fine copy in stiff-paper covers.
