Offered is a 3-volume, matching numbered set of THE COMPLETE CONAN OF CIMMERIA, (2002), by Robert E. Howard. With each volume signed by the author, and slipcased. The WANDERING STAR, ROBERT E. HOWARD book series was comprised of THE SAVAGE TALES OF SOLOMON KANE; BRAN MAK MORN; THE ULTIMATE TRIUMPH; and THE COMPLETE CONAN OF CIMMERIA, in three volumes, would never have been realized had it not been for the effort of book, and artistic designer, Marcelo Anciano, Volume One: 1932-1933. Illustrated by Mark Schultz, with four color plates, and a full-page beautiful ink, and I mean BEAUTIFUL B & W ink, illustrating each story: The Phoenix on the Sword; The Frost Giant's Daughter; The God in the Bowl; The Tower of the Elephant; The Scarlet Citadel; Queen of the Black Coast; Black Colossus: Iron Shadows in the Moon; Xuthal of the Dusk; The Pool of the Black One (color); Rogues in the House; the Vale of Lost Women; and, The Devil in Iron. Not to mention dozens of endpieces, headers, and decorations. Truly some of Schultz's best work; inspired. VOL. 2. Volume Two: 1934. (2003) Illustrated by Gary Gianni, with five color plates, and full-page black & white ink illustrations for three of Howard's longer stories: The People of the Black Circle, 3 full page ; The Hour of the Dragon, 4 full page; and A Witch Shall be Born, 4 full page. Not to mention dozens of endpieces, headpieces, and decorations. Truly some of Gianni's best work. VOL. 3. Volume Three: 1935. (2005) Illustrated by Greg Manchess, with nine color plates, and dozens of half page, black & white paintings for five of Howard's longer stories: The Servants of Bit Yakim; Beyond Black River; The Black Stranger; The Man Eaters of Zamboula; and Red Nails. Not to mention dozens of endpieces, headpieces, decorations. The black and white illustrations are paintings, not pen & inks. A different interpretation, but inspired work from this internationally renown artist. Although not called for, the illustrated advertising plate usually missing from the book, announcing volume three, is signed by artist. A nice bonus. And much REH addenda in each volume to note; such as rough drafts, biographical data, background information. You will not see their like again anytime soon. All volumes fine in d.j.
